CMR72-230 De Havilland Venom NF.3
[Twin-Seat Jet Night Fighter Aircraft]
Decals, Photo-Etch Detailing Set & Paint Mask Included
The de Havilland Venom NF.3, the last night fighter variant of the Venom line, was evolved from the NF.2 and as with the previous night fighter Marks it accommodated the pilot and the navigator/radar operator side-by-side under the clear view hinged canopy. Powered by the de Havilland Ghost 104 engine, it differed from the NF.2 in having a wholly inset tailplane, power-assisted ailerons and an improved AI Mk.21 radar in a symmetrical radome in the extreme nose.
The NF.3 first flew in February 1953 and entered service in 1955. It had a relatively brief career with the RAF, having been only an interim solution, and was withdrawn from service two years later and replaced by the Gloster Javelin twin-engine all-weather fighter.
This full resin kit contains 62 parts, vacu canopy (a spare set is included for modeller's convenience), a small mask and two photo-etched frets, of which one is coloured. The decal sheet also includes a full set of stencils, for which placement on the kit a detailed diagram is included in the highly-detailed instruction leaflet.
